Buddynetwork-System (ÖH WU)

The Buddynetwork-System:

The Buddynetwork matches every exchange student with an Austrian "Buddy". This buddy will support his/her exchange student especially during the first days in Vienna, and very often it's the start for a long lasting friendship!!!

 

What does a Buddy do?

- picks you up at the airport or train station

- picks up your key at the dorm

- brings you to the dorm

- helps you at your start at the university

- shows you around Vienna

- helps you with everything else...

 

Please make sure that you already have your arrival date when you register for a Buddy!
You will also have to load up a foto of yourself - that will help your buddy to find you at the airport. As this upload is mandatory, please prepare a proper picture!
If you do not yet know the exact date, please do not forget to indicate it as soon as possible, because that is the most important thing for your austrian buddy.

First steps in Vienna and @ the WU

  1. Check in at the dorm - your buddy will help you
  2. Registration at the local authorities: you will have to register in Vienna within 3 days of your arrival - your buddy will help you
  3. Registration at the WU: you need you letter of acceptance, proper ID and your preimmatriculation codes (you will receive them via email from the center for foreign studies at the WU in time): you will be equipped with your WU-student-ID - your buddy will help you
  4. You will have to pay € 15,36 membership-fee for the students association in order to make your student-ID valid
  5. Together with your - now valid - student-ID you can buy the semester ticket for the public transportation system in Vienna (very important) - your buddy will help you
  6. Drop by at our office and say hello and pick up latest information about everything important - all the parties!!!
